student charged with murder
YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) A teenage suspect in York County turned himself in to the York Poquoson Sheriff Office Wednesday evening for the murder of 17 year old Dylan Peters. Diggs said the juvenile came to the office with his family by his side.
The suspect name has been withheld because he is a juvenile, but the Grafton High School student is facing second degree murder, attempted robbery and a firearms charge.
Dylan Peter mother said she is relieved her son alleged killer is locked up, because she feared he would come back a second time to harm the rest of the family. Tuesday. Peters and the suspect, allegedly knew each other andengaged in a conversation. Then there was a struggle as Peters tried closing the front door of his home on Cattail Lane. The suspect then fired five shots through the front door, hitting Peters in his chest and legs.
was like, who did it? Who shot you? and he couldn give me anything, said Dewayne Richardson, Peter stepfather. was turning green at that point. had just made his stepson dinner when the shots rang out.
is an apparent robbery [and] drug deal gone bad,
Sheriff Diggs said.
know of him having some skirmishes with some boys recently, Richardson said. why I think somebody sent this kid around here. Diggs said the investigation is ongoing, and it possible more suspects could be involved.
certainly is a possibility that this could be upgraded to first degree murder, Diggs said of future charges the teen could face.
Peter family plans to fight for the first degree murder charge.
don think he came here to rob anybody, Richardson said. he would have robbed somebody, he would have walked right up to him on the deck, pulled out the gun and walked right up to him and said, me all you money.’ was an awesome kid, and for someone to come and take him breaks my heart, said longtime neighbor Toni Nash.
