A 40 year old Baltimore man has been charged with burglarizing a house in Texas and stealing more than $200,000 worth of women’s handbags including two Hermes Birkins valued at $38,000 each, according to Maryland State Police.
Edward M. Bryant was arrested on Tuesday at his house in the 4100 block of Glenhunt Road in Baltimore and is being held on a fugitive warrant at the Harford County Detention Center, according to state police. He is charged with burglary and theft over $100,000.
Investigators with the West University Place Police Department in Texas contacted the state police in Maryland after a residential burglary there. Eight Hermes handbags were stolen and police in West University, which is near Houston, identified Bryant and another person as a suspect.
Police recovered four of the stolen handbags in the Baltimore area. Police declined to identify where the bags were found, but said they are searching for a second suspect.
